During my second semester as a broadcasting student, a project that I worked on was a video that highlighted a popular dance of my choice. I worked on this project with a partner, Emma, and we decided to create our presentation on the popular dance, "The Carlton". We chose this dance because of the amount of fame that it has and the amount of times it has been recreated after its debut. The dance was made popular on the very successful sitcom, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" in the 1990's. We thought that it was an important dance because it symbolizes that anyone is capable of letting loose and having fun, even those who are considered "uptight and professional". We quickly found that the video was fun to make because it involved fun music and dancing. This was the emotion that the actor, Alfonso Rivera was trying to portray when he created the dance in the 90's. He very easily accomplished this by using his goofy and fun personality. When filming the video, we tried to get as many people to participate as we could. It seemed that every person who did "The Carlton" with us, had a smile on their face and ended up laughing. This is how we knew that we chose the right dance for us.
