The announcements for the date 5/15/2019, start off very strong. The introduction for the video has a fun and positive vibe that allows the viewer to relax and become excited for what is to come next. It showcases everyone on our broadcasting team and the song that goes with the film is a mysterious yet fun song that will allow the viewer to stay attentive when watching. It then moves onto the pledge of allegiance which included tunnel audio. It is quiet and sounds a little echoey and not crisp at all. This could have easily been avoided by a quick retake and the use of one of the many microphones that we have available. There is then a quick cut back to anchors where the audio is still not crisp, but is now very loud. The transition from quiet to loud is almost frightening and is very aggressive. When editing, the anchors should have lowered the volume of their clips in order to make for a cleaner and smooth transition of audio. During clubs and community, there is a jump-cut from the beta club meeting slide to the Chinese club meeting slide. This, once again could have easily been avoided by including a black screen after the clip (which is required) so the worker in the wirecast position is able to avoid cuts like this and acquire a cleaner, smooth transition. After community, the anchors introduce the lunch segment which does not have an anchor and simply has text on the screen . This is boring and makes it hard for the viewer to keep attention. It is always better to have someone who is talking to the viewer and moving in front of the camera in order to give the viewer something entertaining to look at. After lunch, the anchors introduce the weather segment, which had very crisp and easy to hear audio and included very friendly editing that was relevant to the segment. The anchors then introduce the sports segment which did a very good job at getting the information across and keeping a tight angle on the anchors while still leaving enough head room for them to be able to move. The audio is clear and the sports anchors speak very clearly. There are no editing mistakes and no jump-cuts. The extra segment, "What's That Song Wednesday" seemed a little rushed. There were some quick cuts that made the video seem very short and rushed. I think this could have been avoided with the use of transitions or a longer length clip before cutting. The segment, however, was entertaining and had clean audio that made it easy and fun to watch. When returning to the anchors, the video began when they were in mid-talk so it seemed very rushed and unprofessional. This is easily avoided in the editing process by simply checking over your work and making sure the audience can hear what you are saying always. Overall, I feel that the announcements could have been improved upon greatly and easily. However, there were still many positive aspects of the announcements, they just could have been made better.
Announcements 1/30/2019
In the announcement on January 30, 2019, the introduction of the news was entertaining due to the dancing and editing throughout the video, however the camera was very shaky through a lot of the dancing portion of the intro. This could have been avoided through the use of a tripod. It then moves into the anchors introduction of the daily announcements, which includes easy to hear audio and a fun segment for "humpday" to entertain and keep the viewers attention. The announcements then move to the pledge of allegiance which had crisp and easy to hear audio at a nice volume. The announcements then move onto community which was put together very well. There were no jump-cuts, spelling errors, the font was clear and easy to read, and the editing was fluid and easy. It then returns to the anchors to introduce sports. There is a weird cut that continues the anchors for about 2 seconds after the black screen and then transitions into sports. This could have easily been avoided by wirecast. There was a black screen included at the end of the anchor clip which is put there in order to allow the transitions between clips to be easier and cleaner. The sports segment itself was made well. All of the information was portrayed in a professional manner. The audio however, was not crisp and was a little echoey. It then cut back to anchors who introduced the daily segment "What's That Vine Wednesday" and then proceeded with a black screen for the rest of the news. This could have been avoided by the insertion of a clip. The outro was not included either. This seems very messy and very rushed. All together, there were many positive aspects of the news, such as the community section, but the entire film seemed rushed and unprofessional. Overall, there are many areas for improvement.
