My name is Joshua Urbach and this is my first year as a broadcasting student. Throughout my entire life, I have been obsessed with movies and film. Even as a child, I have made videos and have uploaded to sites such as YouTube. This all started on Christmas of 2015 when my parents bought me a camera. I immediately began filming everything (whether it was entertaining or not) and rewatching it. After running out of storage in my camera, I plugged it into my computer to delete footage and once I did so, I discovered that I was able to edit the footage and turn it into whatever I wanted. I began with nonsensical videos that didn't make any sense, but I slowly began to form videos that meant something to me.
Throughout this year as a Broadcasting student, I have learned so much. The skillset I have developed because of this program is unimaginable. I am now comfortable in front of a camera as well as behind one. I have learned how to edit videos properly while still being able to put my own twist/style on it. I have become more familiar with different cameras and different softwares to edit that were foreign to me before. This program has made me passionate about film and being able to express myself on a screen. I love how I am able to show emotion with just a camera. I am very proud of the work I have accomplished this semester and I am very excited to see what I can do in the future. |
